Bob Garcia - (1950-2018) Founder and Past President and Chairman of the Board

In the 1960’s and early 70’s Bob worked in the building and bridges division for the railroad in Cheyenne, WY. During that time to earn extra income, he filled in for his brother Charles from time to time cleaning Mountain Bell buildings (now Lumen) for Varsity Contractors, Inc. He was soon recognized by Don Aslett,  the founder of Varsity,  as a go to employee and was enticed to make Varsity a full time career in 1974. Over the years, Bob grew with the company and held about every position in Don’s company. His wife Dianna also joined Varsity in 1979 and worked in various positions for the next 28 years. In 1992 Eric Luke, then a Vice-President for Varsity, offered Bob a chance of a life time;  to own and lead a Minority Contracting company. Originally named Varsity/Garcia,Inc., the name was later changed to System1,Inc.  to better reflect the scope of services.  Over the years, Varsity and Bob took that start up operation and turned it into a thriving company.

Our History

In 1992, Varsity Contractors through the leadership of Eric Luke (past Varsity CEO) and Robert Garcia (Long time Varsity Manager) formed an alliance and started a Minority Cleaning operation to service telecommunications, commercial and retail customers. They called this company Varsity Garcia. Robert and his associates, many of whom developed their skills with Varsity, built that start-up operation into a thriving total facilities services company. The cornerstone of its growth was a strong commitment to excellence in service and integrity. After several years of operation, the Board of Directors changed the name of the company to System1 to better reflect the scope of services they provide to their customers. Today, System1 operates throughout the country.

Don Aslett, the Founder of Varsity Facility Services in 1958, was and continues to be one of the pillars of System1.
